The Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle at Lockheed Martin in Denver, Colorado, Tuesday, June 7, 2011. The MPCV will serve as the exploration vehicle for NASA that will carry the crew to space, provide emergency abort capability, sustain the crew during the space travel, and provide safe re-entry from deep space return velocities. The Orion crew exploration vehicle (CEV) program will provide a state-of-the-art human space flight system capable of safely transferring astronauts to and from the International Space Station (ISS), the Moon, Mars and other destinations beyond low earth orbit (LEO)..Photo by Matt Nager
