Daniela Gutierrez (cq) a fourth grade student at C. M. Macdonell Elementary School in Laredo, Texas, who wrote a letter to the B. Dalton book store company asking to not have the only bookstore in town, close. With over 95 percent of the population as Hispanic Spanish speakers, Laredo ranked the lowest in literacy rates in the 2000 US census.
