The border fence ends a couple miles inland from a checkpoint in in Sasabe, Arizona, Friday, June 5, 2009. While much of the border in California and Texas has been secured with walls and fencing, the desert and mountain ranges in Arizona and the Sonora desert have remained open and have become major crossing points for drug smugglers, human traffickers, and unidentified migrants willing to risk their lives in 100 degree heat and 60 mile crossings. ..PHOTOS/ MATT NAGER
